TORRE MASTRO MOLE

The fortified baglio of Torre Mastro Mole, built at the end of the 19th century as a dependance of the Feudo Mastro estate, is a remarkable rural courtyard-style building. All the structures are arranged linearly around a central courtyard, entirely paved with limestone slabs.

The property reflects elements of remarkable historical uniqueness, closely tied to the traditional and coherent use of the farmhouse. It still preserves all the typical features of rural buildings in our Iblean territory, including exposed stone masonry, limestone paving slabs, and dry-stone walls.

The surrounding chiuse (plots of agricultural land enclosed by dry-stone walls), still owned by the proprietor, ensure a distinctive and unique panorama of the Iblean countryside, completely unspoiled.

Torre Mastro Mole

History

Built at the end of the 19th century as a dependance of the Feudo Mastro estate, it was originally owned by Baron Campulo and later acquired by Cav. Antoci Giunta, Senator of the Kingdom of Italy and ancestor of the current owner.

It is a remarkable rural courtyard-style building, where all the structures extend linearly along a central courtyard, entirely paved with limestone slabs — the so-called “fortified baglio.”

In addition to the farmer’s dwelling, the complex includes the stables, the henhouse, rooms for milk storage and cheese production, as well as the hayloft.
